TIME
TO TELL features seven year old Jules and her eleven
year old brother Alex. Shortly after starting soccer
season with a new coach Alex starts acting uncharacteristically
mean towards his little sister. He begins to bully
and threaten her in ways that are very troubling
and scary. Fortunately for Jules, she discovers
a used Teddy bear named Bartholomew who comes alive
in her dreams and introduces her to two frogs. What
and Tadoo. Together they teach Jules about the difference
between tattling and telling, and assure her of
the need to tell a trusted adult in her "support
system" whenever someone bigger or older is threatening,
hurting or scaring her and they get her to sign
a pledge to take care of herself, no matter what.
They also speculate that someone older is hurting
her brother. When Jules gains this insight she is
able to share it with her brother, ultimately encouraging
him to sign a pledge of his own that helps him decide
to tell about the abuse he is suffering and bring
it to an end.
